Travelling in China!

Poker in China

Hi,

I'm at this moment travelling through China and I have to say... What a beautiful country!

I also only now realized that if you want to play Poker live in China you need to go to Macau as gambling is not allowed. But you can still play online in some poker platforms like PokerStars and Mansion Poker (and that's what I have been doing when I get some time for that :)

I finally had some time to quickly review the situation of my promotions and update my blog:

1 - The 10000 hands promotion

I have checked my email and for my big disappointment I didn't receive any reply from those who registered on this promotion, until today (10 days after the deadline). That's really bad and now I'm trying to understand what went wrong...

Was the target of 10000 hands to high for the period of time defined? I mean I did it but I also played several tables at the same time as I have already some experience but maybe for a beginner that's something you definitely don't do so basically if you play 1 table, lets say on average 40 hands per hour that actually means you would have to play about 8 hours every day... a little bit to much! So I need to rethink this promotion and create something that can be a challenging but realistic. If poker is a hobby for most of us then lets say you can play 2 hour per day during the weekdays and 3 hours on the weekend days. Also assuming that you can play 2 tables at the same time (otherwise I think that even for beginners poker online will be to slow) then to be able to play 10000 hands you would need 2 months!

Another reason could be the fact that beginners will not have immediate access to download poker elephant and/or they dont know or where can they get their poker hands. A quick explanation - for the poker hands in most of the sites they will be stored in a folder inside the place where you have installed the software. As 1 example for PokerStars my hands are saved in C:\Program Files\PokerStars\HandHistory, for Party Poker in C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\HandHistory, etc..
So if this is the problem and the reason why you didn't send me your statistics just send me a quick email and I will reconsider your results. I will be able to upload them on poker elephant I create your graph and see your result.

Could it be because I'm locking the promotion to a specific type limit and type of game i.e. just because I play no limit holdem doesn't mean that the other also want to play that... And maybe I should use a different measurement like BB/100 i.e. how many big blinds you generated per each 100 hands. Then everyone could play at any limit and type of game.

Could it be lack of trust? I still have the feeling that most people that read my posts in forums and in the poker rooms don't trust me or don't believe in what I'm doing... I have no clue how to change that...

So I'm thinking that when I'm back home I will probably relaunch this promotion but on a different format. Please feel free to send me your comments and suggestions to make the next 10000 hands promotion a successful one!

The 10000 hands promotion is now officially closed and unfortunately I have no results or winners to announce. The money will be reused for the next one.

2 - Total amount released by the TukTuk Poker Model = $9830

I made a small change on the table and Im also now including the money I keep from promoting this, following my value of transparency. I dont want people to think that I do this just for fun... Well I do but I also do this because I can get some money to play or to reinvest in creating promotions like the 10000 hands. Im also thinking in creating a freeroll for all those who register with me, but more of that in my next post.

Here is the latest table of statistics:

3 - Top 10 Promotion - $250 for the first 3!

This past weeks the competition is being more exciting than ever. 3 players are closing the gap to the 5000 strategypoint mark - "Souza89" with 3951 strategypoints went from 4th to 2nd passing both "eudodo" with 3827 strategypoints and "vinstayl" with 3282 strategypoints. Im sure pretty soon I will be contacting them for a quick interview :)
Just for your clarification in case you are playing in different platforms and pokerstrategy takes 1 or more days the points I lock the points to a specifc day and cross checked with the other players until they get their points updated. The player with higher number of startegypoints wins.

Here is the latest table with all the ranking:

Well thats it for today, time to go out of the hotel for a Tsingtao (chinese beer!)
Please keep in touch!

Update of all the initiatives!

Hi,

Ive been out last week and know its time for a quick update on all the diferent initiatives Im promoting on my blog.

First an update on the 10000 hands competition - the last day to present your hands is on the 8th of October. So far I havent received any results but I do have 12 friends who registered during the period Ive been promoting this competition. Im looking forward to receive your results.

In terms of money released based on my concept of giving back the "Tell a Friend" money (the tuktuk poker model) we continue to increase the amount of free poker money and we have reached the $8510. Please consider the latest statistics:

Its is clear that not all will have the knowledge and skills to get to the 5000 StrategyPoints. This mark is, in my opinion to high and I have already approached pokerstrategy to try to break it down. If that works that means that you would get the money from me earlier. If you would like to support my request go to this post on pokerstrategy forum.

On my top 10 contest there are still 2 places open but it seems that they are almost decided. "eudodo" and "vinstayl" have passed the 2500 mark and they both seem to be in good shape to get to the 5000 strategypoints mark. Please consider the latest classification:

When looking back to May when I started this blog and seeing at I have achieved already makes me want more. I have so many ideas in my head but not so much time to dedicate to this. I need to find the right balance between my family, my personal life, my job, and of course this. Im open to work with more people and Im looking for partners that want to help me promoting my idea. If you are interested send me a quick email!

Well I think this is it for today! Have a good week and talk to you soon!

Best regards,
Tuk

Hi,

I would like to give you a quick update on my own performance for the competition to see who is the most profitable player in 10000 poker hands during 1 month.

1 week after the competition started I have played 6045 hands and Im still on negative profitability: -$7.55

I have generated $44.87 in rake and created 123 pokerstrategy points (still missing 1 day update of 1250 hands)

So far Im not being able to go to green and stay on green. Im also testing a few diferent ways of playing and that might be the reason for this "bad" results... I should have stick to the pokerstrategy suggestion of the Short Stack Strategy.

All in all apart from the fact that Ive been able to generate enough party points to join Party Poker promotional 50K tournament next Saturday everything else is being just boring... I might need to continue after the 10000 hands to see if I can present a nice upward trend graph :)

Most profitable hand so far: +$9.06

Preflop: Hero is UTG with Ad, Ah

Hero raises to $0.50, UTG+1 raises to $1.50, 8 folds, Hero raises to $3.00, UTG+1 calls $1.50.

Flop: ($6.15) 3s, 7c, Qs (2 players)

Hero checks, UTG+1 checks.

Turn: ($6.15) 5s (2 players)

Hero bets $2.50, UTG+1 calls $2.50.

River: ($11.15) 8d (2 players)

Hero raises $4.40 (All-In), UTG+1 calls $4.40.

Final Pot: $19.95

Most unprofitable hand so far: -$8,80

Preflop: Hero is BU with 4s, 4h

3 folds, MP2 raises to $0.40, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.40, SB raises to $0.80, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.40.

Flop: ($2.10) 5h, 3c, 6s (2 players)

SB bets $1.00, Hero calls $1.00.

Turn: ($4.10) 9c (2 players)

SB bets $2.00, Hero calls $2.00.

River: ($8.10) 8d (2 players)

SB checks, Hero bets $5.00, SB calls $5.00.

Final Pot: $18.10

If you have the time I would love to receive your feedback.
Please remember that the competition will be open for you to register until the 8th of October as long as you can follow the registration requirements as per my initial post.

Not exactly the best way to start: -$11,33 :(

Hello,

As you know the competition to see who is the most profitable player in 10000 hands started yesterday. I have posted this on pokerstrategy.com in different forums and the feedback and support received so far is great! Thank you!

Before jumping into my own results I would like to make note of two important details:

1 - The competition will be running until the 8th of October and during this period of time you can always join as long as you able to provide the 10000 hands for the final result.

2 - During this period of time you can play as many hands as you like and you can pick the best 10000 consecutive hands to be presented for the final result.

As you know I will be testing this concept on my own and I have played the first hands yesterday in Party Poker - what a bad start... I lost $11,33 in 773 hands played.
I played 6 tables at the same time applying the pokerstrategy short stack strategy and for a period of 2 hours.

Here is the graph:

Not that Im trying to find an excuse for this bad start but never try to play poker when you have family visiting and a small kid running around you constantly asking for you to go and play! Your focus and concentration on your actions will be -120% :)

I will also post my most profitable and loss giving hand for your analysis and maybe you could give me some feedback on what should I do better next time :) both to maximize my profits or minimize my loss:

Most profitable hand session: +$5,28

Preflop: Hero is SB with As, Ad
3 folds, MP2 calls $0,10, 2 folds, BU raises to $0,50, Hero raises to $1,00, BB folds, MP2 calls $0,90, BU calls $0,50.

Flop: ($3,10) Kc, 7h, 8h (3 players)
Hero bets $0,50, MP2 calls $0,50, BU calls $0,50.

Turn: ($4,60) 3s (3 players)
Hero bets $0,60, MP2 calls $0,60, BU calls $0,60.

River: ($6,40) Jh (3 players)
Hero raises $0,70 (All-In), MP2 calls $0,70, BU calls $0,70.

Final Pot: $8,50

Hero shows a pair of aces (As Ad)
BU shows high card ace with king kicker (Qs Ah)
MP2 shows a pair of kings (Tc Ks)
Hero wins with a pair of aces (As Ad)

Worst hand of the session: -$5,86

Preflop: Hero is BB with Qc, Qh
UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 raises to $0,40, 6 folds, Hero raises to $1,00, UTG+2 raises to $1,60, Hero calls $0,60.

Flop: ($3,25) 7h, Kd, Ts (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+2 bets $1,10, Hero calls $1,10.

Turn: ($5,45) 6h (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+2 bets $2,90, Hero raises to $3,16 (All-In), UTG+2 calls $0,26.

River: ($11,77) Th

Final Pot: $11,77

Hero shows two pairs, queens and tens (Qc Qh)
UTG+2 shows two pairs, aces and tens (Ad Ah)
UTG+2 wins with two pairs, aces and tens (Ad Ah)

Its funny how attached I can be to the ladies :)

I have to run now as I still have my family here to visit me (during the next 7 days) but I will soon post the updated statistics and the results on the top 10 promotion.

I hope you can help me promoting this competition with your friends so please send this blog link to them! Thank you!

Best regards,
Tuk

Quest for profitability in 10000 poker hands - Competition!

Hi,

Im starting a new competition online for all that have registered through my blog on pokerstrategy where the objective is to see how profitable you are after playing 10000 hands. For the top 5 most profitable players this is will be the prize money:

1st - $80
2nd - $60
3rd - $40
4th - $20
5th - $10

The competition will be open from 8th of September until the 8th of October and during this period you will be able to compare your performance with all the others who will join this competition. All you need to do is register on pokerstrategy using my link and send me a email with your registration nickname and that you wish to participate in this competition.

I will also join and I will start with my current bankroll of $49.75 that I have on Party Poker and I will post my own performance during this period of time. But of course I will not be eligible for the prizes.

Some rules need to be defined to make the competition equal to everyone:

1 - You will have to play no-limit Texas Holdem at the $0.05/$0.10 level.
2 - You should start with a bankroll of $50
3 - You need to be able to present your statistics for this specific competition using one of the many available tools - my suggestion is that you use the poker elephant developed by pokerstrategy.com (if you dont have this available yet you can download it here and use this software for free during 21 days which I guess will be more than enough to play the 10000 hands.). Another suggestion would be PokerTracker 3 where you could use their 60 day trial period.
4 - The starting date will be 8th of September 2008 and the last day for you to send me your statistics will be the 8th of October 2008. After that within 5 working days I will announce the winners. The 10000 hands need to be proven as played during this period of time.
5 - Profitability will be measured in US dollars. In case you play in other currencies the rate of exchange at the date of today will be used for calculation.
6 - You need to have registered on pokerstrategy.com using my referral link and confirmed your registration nick by email to tuktukbkk@gmail.com. This competition is, of course, open for all that have already register with me before. All you need to do is send me an email confirming that you would like to join. A minimum of 10 players will be required to join for this competition to be valid.
7 -The prizes will be paid using the inter account transfers in 1 of the following poker platforms - PokerStars, Full Tilt, Titan Poker, Mansion Poker, Party Poker (only for the prizes above $50 due to PartyPoker restriciton). Other platforms will be considered if required.

You will probably see me around for the next 6 days promoting my competition so if you can help me spreading the word around either by sending this post by email to all your friends who might want to join or/and leave a post/comment in 1 of your favourite forums or blogs.

Any questions please drop me an email to tuktukbkk@gmail.com

Good luck and let the games begin!

Help me to break down the TAF payments!

Hi,

Ive been in the past days in discussion with pokerstrategy.com to see if they can either increase their current Tell-a-Friend - TAF - promotion or reduce the number of strategypoints required to release the $75 dollars.

As you can see by my latest statistics out of 385 registered friends with me only 1 managed to get to the 5000 strategypoints and because Im running this promotion he ended up making $250. But it is still quite difficult and demanding to get there. So what Im proposing to pokerstrategy.com is that they reduce the TAF payments as follow:

$10 at the 15 strategypoints mark
$15 at the 100 strategypoints mark
$25 at the 1000 strategypoints mark
$50 at the 5000 strategypoints mark

If that goes through that will mean that actually you will get the TAF money that I give back earlier as well.

If you can please go to this pokerstrategy forum post and support this initiative.

Now for the latest statistics update:

The top 10 promotion:

Free Poker Money Released - $7237.5

My head is full of ideas and one of the things I was planning to do is a small competition to see how profitable you are playing on a defined NL blinds in 10000 poker hands... But this still needs to be still prepared... Please keep in touch and make sure you subscribe to my blog for the latest updates!

Best regards,
Tuk
